Kinja'd!!!

I just barely passed. The inspector was super strict I was shitting bricks the whole time. Apparently not turning off your signal soon enough is a major no no. My bike has self cancelling blinkers so I wasn’t worrying about it but that is where I lost the bulk of the points.

i hate self cancelling signals with such a passion....never turn off when you want them too, never stay on when you need them....

You can always remedy the problem by buying a BMW.

Congrats! When I took the class, it was announced after the instructors finished scoring that seven people passed and two failed...and I was pretty damn scared I was one of the ones that failed. Instead, one of the instructors congratulated me on how much and how fast I had improved over just two days as she handed me the course completion card.

How do they actually work on bikes? Is it based on movement, or just a timer?

It doesn’t matter how much you passed by. You passed! Congratulations!

Congrats! Yeah it’s always scary during the test, I’m overly critical of myself so I was fully aware of every single thing I did wrong as I did it. One I was done I was absolutely sure that I’d failed but apparently I was apparently one of the better people there that day.

Must have missed it, what’s the bike? (or the bike you intend to get?)

As my chief instructor said when I did well in the class, tested poorly under stress, and barely squeaked by with 19 points against me (20 is failing), “A miss is as good as a mile.” Congrats!

IT ON OUR BMW BIKE THAT I HAVE THESE ISSUES!!!!

Depends on the bike. Some work off a lean sensor (so they always cancel as you are sitting at a light) and some on a timer.

I hate them so much

You’re not supposed to use the signals on a BMW!

Huh. Mine with perfectly 95% of the time.

BTW I rode a street triple R the other day. Holy hell I need one in my life. I would be surprised if I still have my Harley through next summer. I like it, but it doesn’t suit my use as well as those things used to when I lived in the middle of nowhere with straight flat roads. Hate to say it, but I should have listened to you. Ideally if I could keep it and get 3-4 more bikes I would be set.

Exactly! They shut off too soon on faster roads but way too long in town. On my bike it is 10 seconds or 150 meters which ever comes first.

Thats exactly it. I can ride the bike no problem whatsoever but as soon as you stick the instructor behind me I totally panic and start messing up. As soon as I got the license I rode my bike for almost an hour as comfortable as can be.
